This order brings the Land Transport (Drug Driving) Amendment Act 2025 (the Act) into force on 15 December 2025.

The Act amends the Land Transport Act 1998 (the principal Act) to enable the use of roadside oral fluid screening testing directed at detecting and deterring drug-impaired drivers.

This order is accompanied by the Land Transport (Oral Fluid Samples) Regulations 2025. Those regulations, which also come into force on 15 December 2025, prescribe procedures for the obtaining, handling, retaining, transferring, and disposing of oral fluid samples by enforcement officers, approved analysts, and private analysts under the principal Act, as amended by the Act.
