These regulations are made under section 88(1)(b) of the Births, Deaths, Marriages, and Relationships Registration Act 1995 on the advice and with the consent of the Executive Council.
Regulations
1 Title
These regulations are the Births, Deaths, Marriages, and Relationships Registration (Prescribed Information) Amendment Regulations 2018.
2 Commencement
These regulations come into force on 5 November 2018.
3 Principal regulations
These regulations amend the Births, Deaths, Marriages, and Relationships Registration (Prescribed Information) Regulations 1995 (the principal regulations).
4 Regulation 7 amended (Death certificates)
Replace regulation 7(1)(a)(xiid) with:
(xiid)
the sex and age of any children of the person who were still living when the person died:
(xiie)
the sex and age at death of any children of the person who were deceased when the person died (and an indication that they are deceased):

Explanatory note
This note is not part of the regulations, but is intended to indicate their general effect.
These regulations, which come into force on 5 November 2018, amend the Births, Deaths, Marriages, and Relationships Registration (Prescribed Information) Regulations 1995 (the principal regulations). The amendment adds a requirement that a person’s death certificate must include details of any children of the person who were deceased when the person died. The principal regulations already require a person’s death certificate to include details of any children still living when the person died.
