Regulations

1 Title

These regulations are the Hazardous Substances and New Organisms (Personnel Qualifications) Amendment Regulations 2016.

2 Commencement

These regulations come into force on the 28th day after the date of their notification in the Gazette.

3 Principal regulations

These regulations amend the Hazardous Substances and New Organisms (Personnel Qualifications) Regulations 2001 (the principal regulations).

4 Regulation 7 and cross-heading revoked

Revoke regulation 7 and the cross-heading above regulation 7.

Explanatory note

This note is not part of the regulations, but is intended to indicate their general effect.

These regulations, which come into force on 7 April 2016, amend the Hazardous Substances and New Organisms (Personnel Qualifications) Regulations 2001 (the principal regulations).

The sole purpose of these regulations is to revoke regulation 7 of the principal regulations, which sets the qualifications for hazardous substances enforcement officers. Regulation 7 is to be replaced by a notice issued by the Environmental Protection Authority under the Hazardous Substances and New Organisms Act 1996.

These changes are consequential on the reforms implemented by the Hazardous Substances and New Organisms Amendment Act 2015 and the Health and Safety at Work Act 2015.
