A ratepayer’s entitlement to a rebate for a rating year ending before 1 July 2017, and the amount (if any) of that rebate, must be determined as if this order had not been made.

Explanatory note

This note is not part of the order, but is intended to indicate its general effect.

This order, which comes into force on 1 July 2017, amends section 3(1) of the Rates Rebate Act 1973. Section 3(1) provides for a rates rebate for low-income home owners. This order—

increases the income threshold for a full rates rebate from $24,470 to $24,790; and
increases the maximum rates rebate from $610 to $620.
