These regulations, which come into force on 4 September 2025, amend the Electronic Identity Verification Regulations 2013 (the principal regulations). The principal regulations are made under the Electronic Identity Verification Act 2012 (the Act).

The Act provides for the Electronic Identity Verification Service (the Service). Among other things, the Service enables a person to verify their identity online in order to meet the identification requirements of participating agencies in relation to certain transactions and services. The Service also enables participating agencies to verify a person’s identity by electronic means, provided they have the person’s consent.

These regulations add the following bodies to those declared by regulation 4(1) of the principal regulations to be participating agencies for the purposes of the Act:
