1 Title

These regulations are the Land Transport (Offences and Penalties) Amendment Regulations (No 2) 2012.

2 Commencement

These regulations come into force on the day after the date of their notification in the Gazette.

3 Principal regulations

These regulations amend the Land Transport (Offences and Penalties) Regulations 1999 (the principal regulations).

4 Schedule 2 amended

In Schedule 2, replace the item relating to the Land Transport (Driver Licensing) Rule 1999 (91001) with:

1A. (2) Revoke regulation 5(3) of the Land Transport (Offences and Penalties) Amendment Regulations 2012.

Explanatory note

This note is not part of the regulations, but is intended to indicate their general effect.

These regulations, which come into force on the day after the date of their notification in the Gazette, amend the Land Transport (Offences and Penalties) Regulations 1999 (the principal regulations).

These regulations provide for demerit points for a breach of conditions specified in clause 19H(3) or 19K(3) of the Land Transport (Driver Licensing) Rule 1999 (which specify the conditions applying to stage 2 and stage 3 of the accelerated licensing process provided for under Part 4A of that rule).

Amendment regulations made in October 2011 added the demerit points to Schedule 2 of the principal regulations with effect from 1 October 2012. However, separate amendment regulations made in August 2012 inadvertently revoked the items relating to demerit points for the breach of conditions applying to stage 2 and stage 3 of the accelerated licensing process with effect from 1 October 2012. These regulations reinstate the demerit points.
