Pursuant to section 28B of the Fisheries Act 1983 and section 7 of the Constitution Act 1986, the Minister for Food, Fibre, Biosecurity and Border Control gives the following notice

  • Clause 3(2) of the principal notice is amended by omitting the expression “1 April 1999”, and substituting the expression “1 April 2000”.

Explanatory Note

This note is not part of the notice, but is intended to indicate its general effect.

This notice, which comes into force on 31 March 1999, amends the Fisheries (Declaration of New Stock Subject to Quota Management System) Notice 1997 by postponing by a year the date on which southern blue whiting become subject to the quota management system established under Part 2A of the Fisheries Act 1983. The new operative date for southern blue whiting is now 1 April 2000.
