Health and Safety in Employment (Mining Administration) Amendment Regulations 2003: revoked, on 16 December 2013, pursuant to regulation 233(a) of the Health and Safety in Employment (Mining Operations and Quarrying Operations) Regulations 2013 (SL 2013/483).

These regulations are administered by the Ministry of Business, Innovation, and Employment.
Pursuant to section 21 of the Health and Safety in Employment Act 1992, Her Excellency the Governor-General, acting on the advice and with the consent of the Executive Council, makes the following regulations.
1 Title

These regulations are the Health and Safety in Employment (Mining Administration) Amendment Regulations 2003

In these regulations, the Health and Safety in Employment (Mining Administration) Regulations 1996 1 are called “the principal regulations”
.
2 Commencement
These regulations come into force on the 28th day after the date of their notification in the Gazette.
3 Other employees required to hold certificates
Regulation 15 of the principal regulations is amended by omitting the words “a mine shot-firer, a mine surveyor, a quarry shot-firer, a tunnel shot-firer,”
, and substituting the words “a mine surveyor,”

4 Certificates of competence
Regulation 16 of the principal regulations is amended by revoking paragraphs (n), (p), and (q).
5 Schedule 1 amended
The Schedule 1 of the principal regulations is amended by omitting the item relating to Mine shot-firer, quarry shot-firer, tunnel shot-firer.

Explanatory note
This note is not part of the regulations, but is intended to indicate their general effect.
These regulations, which come into force on the 28th day after the date of their notification in the Gazette, amend the Health and Safety in Employment (Mining Administration) Regulations 1996 by revoking the provisions relating to shot-firers.
As a result of the coming into force of the Hazardous Substances (Fireworks, Safety Ammunition, and Other Explosives Transfer) Regulations 2003 (SR 2003/176), handlers of explosives must now comply with the requirements imposed by regulations made under the Hazardous Substances and New Organisms Act 1996. Consequently, any regulations made under the Health and Safety in Employment Act 1992 that impose certification requirements on handlers of explosives are no longer necessary.
