These regulations are made under section 105 of the Medicines Act 1981,—
(a)
on the advice and with the consent of the Executive Council; and
(b)
on the advice of the Minister of Health given in accordance with that section.
Regulations
1 Title
These regulations are the Medicines Amendment Regulations 2020.
2 Commencement
These regulations come into force on 30 September 2020.
3 Principal regulations
These regulations amend the Medicines Regulations 1984 (the principal regulations).
4 Regulation 4A amended (Standard for CBD products)
In regulation 4A(4), replace “during the 6-month period that starts at the commencement of this regulation”
with “until 1 April 2021”
.

Explanatory note
This note is not part of the regulations, but is intended to indicate their general effect.
These regulations, which come into force on 30 September 2020, amend the Medicines Regulations 1984. The amendment to regulation 4A(4) provides a 6-month extension to the transitional period during which there is an exemption to the minimum quality standard applying to the product of a licence-holder. That transitional period now ends on 31 March 2021 and the minimum quality standard will apply on and after 1 April 2021.
