Pursuant to the Local Authorities (Employment Protection) Act 1963, His Excellency the Governor-General, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council, hereby makes the following order.
Order
1 Title
This order may be cited as the Local Authorities (Employment Protection) Order 1971.
2 Local authorities
Schedule 1 to the Local Authorities (Employment Protection) Act 1963 is hereby amended by inserting in the appropriate columns of Part 1, before the item relating to Borough Councils, the following item:

Explanatory note
This note is not part of the order, but is intended to indicate its general effect
The effect of this order is that area electricity authorities constituted under section 28 of the Electricity Distribution Commission Act 1967 are local authorities for the purposes of the Local Authorities (Employment Protection) Act 1963.
