33 Mandatory cancellation of electronic identity credential

(1)

The chief executive must cancel an electronic identity credential if the chief executive is satisfied, after proper inquiries, that the individual to whom it has been issued—

(a)

has died; or

(b)

is a specified individual who is exempted under section 12(1) from the requirements of section 11, but is no longer using the credential because it relates to 1 of his or her identities that is no longer required; or

(c)

is an individual referred to in section 13(1) and the credential is in respect of his or her original identity.

(2)

Subsection (1)—

(a)

applies whether or not an application to voluntarily cancel the electronic identity credential is made to the chief executive under section 31; and

(b)

does not limit the grounds for making an application to voluntarily cancel an electronic identity credential under that section.
