This order is made under section 80 of the Major Events Management Act 2007 on the advice and with the consent of the Executive Council.

This order is the Major Events Management (Olympic Games and Commonwealth Games Emblems and Words) Order 2019.
2 Commencement
This order comes into force on 1 October 2019.

Explanatory note
This note is not part of the order, but is intended to indicate its general effect.
This order, which comes into force on 1 October 2019, is made under the Major Events Management Act 2007 (the Act). It amends the Act’s Schedule, which contains permanently protected emblems and words. Use of those emblems and words that is not authorised or covered by an exception or a defence is, under sections 28 to 32 of the Act, an offence for which the maximum penalty is a fine of $150,000. The Act also contains (in section 34) related prohibitions and authorising provisions for registration of bodies under names, or of emblems, the use of which would be an offence under section 28.
