PURSUANT to section 61H of the Social Security Act 1964, His Excellency the Governor-General, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council, hereby makes the following order.

1 Title and commencement

(1) This order may be cited as the Social Security (Rates of Accommodation Supplement) Order 1996.
(2) This order shall come into force on the 1st day of July 1996.
2 Increasing amounts of some accommodation supplements on and after 1 July 1996
Each provision of the Social Security Act 1964 set out in the first column of the Schedule to this order is hereby amended by omitting every expression set out opposite to it in the second column of that Schedule, and substituting in each case the expression set out opposite to it in the third column of that Schedule.
3 Revocation
The Social Security (Rates of Accommodation Supplement) Order 19951 is hereby revoked.

Explanatory Note
This note is part of the order, but is intended to indicate its general effect.
This order, which comes into force on 1 July 1996, increases some maximum rates of accommodation supplement. The increased rates are—
For households with 3 or more persons in—
(a) Auckland, the increase is from $115 to $125 weekly:
(b) Wellington, the increase is from $85 to $95 weekly:
(c) The rest of New Zealand, the increase is from $70 to $75 weekly:
For households with 2 persons in—
(a) Auckland, the increase is from $85 to $100 weekly:
(b) Wellington, the increase is from $65 to $75 weekly:
(c) The rest of New Zealand, the increase is from $50 to $55 weekly:
For households with 1 person in Auckland, the increase is from $70 to $80 weekly.

1 General
