71 New section 58A inserted (Offences relating to registry)

After section 58, insert:

58A Offences relating to registry

(1)

A person commits an offence who, without reasonable excuse, fails to provide information to the Police in accordance with section 94.

(2)

A person who commits an offence against subsection (1) is liable on conviction to a fine not exceeding $10,000.

(3)

A person commits an offence if the person intentionally fails to provide information to the Police in accordance with section 94.

(4)

A person commits an offence if the person provides information to the Police for inclusion in the registry, knowing the information to be false or misleading in a material respect.

(5)

A person who commits an offence against subsection (3) or (4) is liable on conviction to a term of imprisonment not exceeding 2 years, or to a fine not exceeding $20,000.
